Windows Phone 7: Buyer's guide

Microsoft's cutting edge mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7, was released to much fanfare and applause back in October, and in the few short months since its debut it has gone from strength to strength. The ethos of the software is very simple, to keep users in touch with their contacts and social networks, without distracting them from the here and now.

But which Windows Phone 7 device is right for you? Well, choosing your next purchase is the fun part!

Dell Venue Pro - Dell's Venue Pro is a stellar smartphone which offers plenty of high-end features. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, headlined by a 1GHz Scorpion CPU and you're also treated to a 4.1-inch Gorilla Glass™ display, 5-megapixel camera capable of 720P video capture and 512MB RAM, to keep things suitably speedy. The biggest selling point of the Dell Venue Pro is its hugely responsive hardware QWERTY keyboard though, which makes wordy tasks a breeze.

HTC Mozart - Taiwanese manufacturer HTC made its name producing high quality devices for Microsoft's last OS, Windows Mobile, and it hasn't let that mantel slip with the Mozart. The device comes with all the accoutrements that a person needs in a modern smartphone, such as a powerful 1GHz processor, 576MB RAM and 8GB of on-board storage, as well as an impressive 8-megapixel camera for all your photographic needs!

HTC Trophy - HTC's Trophy was another device that launched with Windows Phone 7 and it's another great all-rounder. Featuring a 5-megapixel camera, 1GHz CPU, 576MB RAM and a vibrant 3.8-inch S-LCD display on which to enjoy all your favourite films and TV shows, which is further complimented by the inclusion of Dolby Mobile and SRS for unparalleled audio clarity.

LG Optimus 7 - Another launch device was LG's Optimus 7, a device which is as practical as it is attractive. With its sleek design, 3.8-inch Gorilla Glass display, 1GHz CPU and 512MB RAM, the Optimus 7 oozes class and power, and as if that isn't enough you also get a high quality 5-megapixel camera  with flash!

Samsung Omnia 7 - The Omnia 7 is Samsung's flagship Windows Phone 7 device, and with good reason. The device comes jam packed with tech, including an amazing 4-inch Super-AMOLED screen, 1GHz Scorpion CPU with Adreno GPU to allow your games to run silky smooth . The Omnia 7 also boasts a 5-megapixel camera with 720P video capture at 25fps, so you can keep your magic moments for posterity!

HTC HD7 - The big-screened HTC HD7 should head the list of any movie fan looking to embrace Microsoft's new platform. The device offers a huge 4.3-inch LCD display, 8GB of on-board storage for all of your media and Dolby Mobile and SRS support for added audio quality. All of this is powered by an impressive 1GHz Qualcomm processor and 576MB RAM, which makes for a pretty formidable mobile multimedia experience.
