Top features of the Nokia 7230

With the market awash with smartphones which promise to do everything but mow the lawn, many consumers still want an honest-to-goodness handset which is easy to use and doesn't break the bank. If you're one of those people, the Nokia 7230 may just be the phone you're looking for and here's why:

Camera - This little handset has a 3.15-megapixel camera with autofocus, which is perfect for you if you like to shoot the odd snap while you're out and about. It also shoots QCIF video at 8fps, which may not be enough to kick-start a career in cinema, but it will certainly be up to the job if you want to shoot the occasional video and don't fancy lugging a DV camera around with you.

Build Quality - If there's one thing Nokia is famed for, it's the consistently high standard of build quality that goes into its handsets, and the 7230 doesn't disappoint. At only 100g, this phone won't feel like a brick in your pocket, but still feels sturdy enough that you won't have to worry about it. The sliding mechanism is great too, with a lovely fluid slide and a satisfying 'clunk' at the end and the added bonus of a bit of protection for your keyboard.

Detailing - Although this phone is a budget model, it still boasts features which you'd expect of a high-end device. Nokia's attention to detail means that the 7230 has a 3.5mm audio jack so that you can use your own headphones, a cover over the micro USB slot, a memory that's expandable via MicroSD up to 16GB, dedicated camera button, as well as a lovely chrome finish which makes this handset look the part as well act it.

Browser - The 7230 features a hugely competitive browser, boasting 3G connectivity, Flash Lite 3.0 and Java. You can also access the Ovi store for ringtones, themes, games and apps on the go, plus Nokia Maps, which means that, with this device, you'll never be lost or bored!

Battery - Another area in which Nokia lead the way is the battery life on its devices, and again, the 7230 is up to their usual standards. With up to 395 hours of standby time and almost 4 hours of talk time, you will rarely find yourself low on power with this handset. This is a hugely reassuring feature for many of us, as many of the popular smartphones can run down so quickly whilst powering all of their bells and whistles, leaving us phoneless in an emergency, which, let's admit, defeats the object of a mobile device somewhat!

Nokia have impressed us with the 7230. With a price point around the £100 mark, we had expected it to be a basic device with few redeeming features, but actually, there are many reasons to invest in this little handset, not least of all the famed Nokia durability and fantastic built quality. If you want a no-frills, reliable phone, you can't go wrong with one of these.
