Top reasons to buy the LG Optimus One

Smartphones are the norm for many people now though the prices involved in owning one can be prohibitive for some. Thankfully a number of manufacturers have stepped up their efforts to bring the power and versatility of quality smartphones to a clientele who have more pressing financial priorities than owning the latest piece of bleeding-edge tech wizardry.

One such manufacturer is LG, who has won numerous plaudits for its Optimus One, a device which brings all the power and practicality of a top-end smartphone, with the price point of something considerably dumber. If you're looking for a reason to invest in LG's budget beauty look no further.

Build Quality
LG well versed at turning out sturdy devices and the Optimus One proudly carries on that tradition. At first glance it appears a little bulky but the device sits comfortably in the hand, it's weight is reassuring without being cumbersome and the rubber-effect back panel gives a sure-handed feeling when you're grasping the device. It doesn't push the boat out with sweeping lines and minimalist touches but it remains simple, practical and is exceptionally easy to operate with one hand.

Operating System
The Optimus One runs version 2.2 of Google's Android OS, which means it is fully equipped with all the latest bug fixes and enhancements and it's also able to run the latest generation of Android apps available in Androids Market, which includes thousands of applications to cater for virtually every possible task you can imagine. The operating system itself is incredibly easy to use and offers support for Flash enabled browsing, push e-mail, calendar and all the other little things that help you stay up-to-date with the world around you.

Navigation
If you travel then you'll be pleased to know that the GPS functionality included in LG's Optimus One is excellent and thanks to the ever-useful Google Maps you'll get where you want to go with minimal fuss.

As long as you have your phone charged there'll be no need for expensive GPS gadgets and you can spend your money on something a little bit more enjoyable. The included Android navigation screen 'Car Home' also makes the device easy and safe to use while you're travelling in a vehicle, with large on-screen buttons for the most important features such as access to voice control.

Battery Life
Unlike a lot of Android smartphones the Optimus One can keep up with the rigours of daily life without expecting you to keep chargers secreted all over the place. The included 1500mAh battery is more than ample to keep you going for 48 hours of moderate use, which when you consider the ample 3.2-inch touchscreen and plethora of functionality at hand, is no mean feat.

If you're a power user you can keep another battery tucked away for emergencies, which is more than can be said for a lot of today's expensive unibody devices.

Price
Perhaps the biggest plus-point of the Optimus One is the price. With a SIM-free RRP of only £220 you needn't break the bank to own this device, or why not take advantage of its budget credentials to snag yourself a free gift from one of the many vendors out there when signing-up to a new price plan? The Optimus One really allows you to have your cake and eat it!
