iOS4.3 Preview
If you're one of the millions of people who chose Apple's smartphone extraordinaire, the iPhone, you'll no doubt be aware of many of its virtues. What you might not be aware of though, is that your good phone is going to be made infinitely better in the coming weeks by the release of iOS 4.3, the latest revision of Apple's amazingly user friendly and powerful smartphone software. With a short while to go before version 4.3 is released we thought we'd whet your appetite by giving you a taster of what you've got to look forward to!
AirPlay For Third Party Apps - In the latest version of iOS 4.3, third party developers will be able to make use of the fantastic AirPlay functionality available, which allows music, video and photos to be streamed to compatible devices, such as your Apple TV, Mac or other iOS devices.
Find My Friends - Find My Friends is Apple's take on social networking. The feature, which ties in with MobileMe, will allow users to find and interact with other people, share places of online interest and generally be very sociable.
New Camera Effects - Version 4.3 of iOS brings users new and improved camera functionality, with an expanded array of effects intended to spruce up your snaps. You'll find effects like 'Thermal Image', 'X-Ray', 'Kaleidoscope' and 'Tunnel of Light' to name but a few, and there'll no doubt be a few surprises added on that we don't know about too!
New, Improved Keyboard - The firmware update will also include a new and improved on-screen keyboard, which offers translucency, and even more responsiveness than the former version, which itself was lauded for being the very best available.
Improved iAd's - While at first glance this may not seem like a positive, if you dig a little deeper you'll see that by improving the online advertising framework that runs within the iOS software, both Apple and iOS developers can potentially take their revenue from the advertising, allowing them to offer high quality content for less, or even completely free of charge.
Eye Candy - As you'd expect from the image conscious people at Apple, iOS 4.3 will boast some tidy graphical enhancements, ranging from improved shading and animation for on-screen keyboards, to new and improved application icons. Because, contrary to what other people would have you believe, looks are very important.
It would be wrong of us to go any further, we don't want to be accused of spoiling the surprise. But take it from us, iOS is going to continue getting better and better.
