Best HTC smartphones of 2011
If you're after a premium smartphone then you're already likely to have short listed Taiwanese manufacturer HTC.
HTC has earmarked 2011 for some pretty impressive things though with new devices, updates and its first foray into the tablet market all planned for the coming 12 months, but our concern is with smartphones, so we've delved into the HTC's release schedule to bring you its top smartphones of 2011.
HTC Incredible S - The aptly named Incredible S, released in February, is already being lauded as a competitor for smartphone of the year and it's easy to see why when you look at the complete package.
The device features a nippy 1GHz CPU, Adreno GPU, 768MB RAM and 1.1 GB ROM, and all of this technology is effortlessly stowed away into a sleek, beautifully designed body, which boasts a 4-inch S-LCD touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera with auto focus as well as a 1.3-megapixel secondary camera. It also captures video in 720P and runs on the ever-popular Android operating system, and though it’s released with 2.2 (Froyo), it’s upgradeable to 2.3 (Gingerbread).
HTC ChaCha - As you'd expect of a company that is famed for having its finger on the pulse, HTC has made sure that its ahead of the curve by releasing the first device that features a hardware Facebook button, which allows you to share just about anything with a single press.
A messenger-style device, the ChaCha sports a primary 5-megapixel camera and secondary VGA camera, 512 MB RAM and impressively, runs on Android 2.4 (Gingerbread). It’s predicted that the device will be released in the second quarter of 2011 and will be available on cheaper tariffs, to appeal to the budget market.
HTC Desire S - With an expected release date of April, the Desire S is the latest in HTC’s hugely popular, Android powered, Desire range.
The Desire S features a speedy 1GHz CPU and dedicated GPU, as well as a bumper 768MB RAM, to help things zip along nicely and a glorious 3.7-inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen upon which you can enjoy all of your captured media.
While we're on that subject you'll be pleased to hear that the Desire S also comes with a quality 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and 720P video capture, making the Desire S a worthy successor to the game-changing Desire.
HTC 7 Pro - Leading the Windows Phone 7 charge for HTC this year is its HTC 7 Pro, a device which features arguably the best hardware QWERTY that we've ever seen on a smartphone. As well as the top end keyboard you get a 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, and 3.6-inch screen, displaying 480 x 800 pixels, which affords users decent viewing angles as well as offering pin-sharp clarity and faithful colour reproduction. For those of you that work on the move, or tend to be on the verbose side when e-mailing, this is the device for you.
HTC Wildfire S - The Wildfire S is HTC’s follow up to its popular budget Android device, the Wildfire, and is carrying on in the same vein as its older brother, but in a slightly improved fashion. The Wildfire S has a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 600Mhz processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), making it a great addition to HTC's arsenal, and a device which we confidently predict will dominate much of the budget smartphone scene in the coming year.
So start saving your pennies, because HTC is continuing its run of good form into 2011!
